What is my jade grade?
Identifying jade grades can be tricky, but it doesn’t have to be! The A–B–C grading system helps classify jade based on treatment and authenticity, making it easier to understand quality. Authentic jade always comes with a certification verifying its grade and type. Learn more below!
Exquisite
Grade A
Completely natural, with no chemical treatments, polymer fillers, or artificial color dyes. It represents the highest standard of authenticity. Treasured for its purity, lasting beauty, and value that endures through generations.
Refined
Grade B
Chemically treated, typically bleached to remove impurities and infused with polymers to enhance clarity and brightness. While visually appealing it lacks the natural integrity and long-term durability of untreated jade.
Vibrant
Grade C
Chemically treated and infused with artificial dyes to enhance or change its color. While vibrant in appearance these enhancements can fade over time, and the jade lacks the authenticity and stability of untreated stone.
Stylized
Grade B+C
Heavily treated with bleach to remove impurities and infused with artificial dyes to alter its color. Though visually enhanced it lacks the natural integrity, durability, and long-term value of untreated or minimally treated jade.

Jade Quality FAQ
How can I tell if a jade piece is real or fake?
Authentic jade has a cool, smooth feel, natural variations, and a rich, layered translucency. Fakes may feel warm or overly uniform. For certainty always look for certification from a reputable gemological lab or trusted seller.
How is the value of jade determined?
The value of jade is determined by its type (jadeite or nephrite), color intensity, translucency, texture, craftsmanship, and whether it’s untreated. Vivid green, highly translucent, natural jadeite is the most prized. Certification adds to its value.
What’s the difference between jadeite and nephrite?
Jadeite and nephrite are two distinct minerals both known as jade. Jadeite is rarer, denser, and comes in vibrant colors like imperial green. Nephrite is more common, softer in tone, and often found in creamy white or olive green shades.
Are your jade pieces verified by a gemological lab?
